Best time to visit Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka's two monsoons mean it's almost always dry somewhere. December–March: the Yala monsoon — south and west coasts are dry and sunny, ideal for Galle, Mirissa, Tangalle and Yala safaris. April–September: the Maha monsoon — east coast (Trincomalee, Pasikuda, Arugam Bay) and parts of the north are dry. The Cultural Triangle (Sigiriya, Dambulla, Polonnaruwa) and the hill country (Kandy, Ella, Nuwara Eliya) are reliable year-round.

December–March for the south and west coast (Galle, Tangalle, Yala). April–September for the east coast (Trincomalee, Pasikuda). The Cultural Triangle is good year-round.
