The dry season (June–October) generally offers the best game viewing as animals congregate around water sources. However, timing varies by destination. Kenya's Great Migration peaks July–October, while Botswana's green season (November–March) offers dramatic landscapes and birthing season.
Most luxury camps welcome children from age 6+, with dedicated family programmes and private game drives. Some properties, like Angama Mara and Singita, offer exceptional family experiences. We always recommend private conservancies for families.
Luxury safari costs range from £600–£2,500+ per person per night, typically all-inclusive of meals, drinks, and activities. A 7-night safari for two generally ranges from £10,000–£35,000 depending on the camps and season.
Neutral-coloured clothing, a good pair of binoculars, sun protection, and layers for cool mornings. Most luxury camps provide laundry services. We send a comprehensive packing guide as part of your pre-departure information.
Requirements vary by country. Yellow fever vaccination may be required for East Africa. Anti-malarial medication is recommended for most safari destinations except parts of South Africa. We provide up-to-date health advice as part of our planning.
Private conservancies offer exclusivity (fewer vehicles), off-road driving, walking safaris, and night drives — none of which are permitted in most national parks. We strongly recommend conservancies for the best safari experience.
