South Africa's safari and city seasons are opposite. May–September is dry season — sparse vegetation and concentrated wildlife at the waterholes, perfect for safari in Sabi Sand, Kruger, Madikwe and the Eastern Cape. November–March is summer — hot, vibrant Cape Town and Winelands, perfect for beach and gastronomy. April–May and September–October are the all-rounder months — manageable across both regions.
