Where to go on a luxury holiday in March

March is one of the most interesting luxury months. The Maldives and Caribbean are still in dry season but past the peak premium. Japan's cherry blossom opens (late March in Tokyo and Kyoto). Patagonia is at its final-best for trekking. Easter falls in March or April. Kenya enters its 'green season' before the long rains, with excellent value. For repeat travellers, March is a quietly brilliant month.

March is the bridge month — late Indian Ocean season, cherry blossom in Japan, shoulder Caribbean and the start of safari shoulder.
